Aletheia House is looking for a responsible individual to maintain our facilities and grounds. The ideal candidate will be experienced with custodial functions and building upkeep. This individual should have a keen eye for detail.

Position Summary:
The Custodian is responsible for maintaining several of Aletheia House facilities and properties as well as the grounds of the facilities. The Custodian works closely with the Maintenance Manager to accomplish the mission and service goals of Aletheia House.

Primary Responsibilities:
-Ensure spaces are prepared for the next day by emptying and taking out trash, tidying furniture and dusting surfaces.
-Sweep, mop, and wax floors, lobby, hallways, and restrooms; vacuum carpets.
-Clean kitchen and restroom areas by washing and sanitizing toilets, sinks, surfaces, railings, handles, showers, etc. Responsible for restocking disposables (e.g. soap, tissue, paper towels, etc.)
-Wipe and clean mirrors and windows
-Remove all paper and debris from all perimeters of the building
-Report major and minor damages to the Maintenance Manager
-Maintain the curb appeal and cleanliness of agency properties
-Maintain accurate, complete and timely documentation of all work
-Attend staff meetings and in-services trainings as directed
-Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Operating Officer and/or Executive Director.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
-Proven experience as custodian, janitor or in a similar role preferred.
-Knowledge of use and maintenance of industrial cleaning equipment and appliances
-Knowledge of safe disposal of chemical liquids and other hazardous components
-Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
-Ability to work independently, efficiently, and has great time management skills.
-Ability to pay great attention to detail.
-Ability to maintain harmonious effective working relationships with clients and other employees.

-Experience with maintaining lawns/grounds, required.
-Valid Alabama drivers’ license and good driving record required.
-High School Diploma or GED.

Physical Requirements:
-Requires the physical mobility to lift, sit, stand, bend, and walk for moderate periods of time.
-Requires the physical ability to occasionally carry or lift objects weighing up to 40 pounds.
-Requires the ability to work in all types of weather conditions from hot to cold temperatures.
-Requires the ability to operate a vehicle.

-Must be willing to use and have your own personal transportation, light local daily travel required. Mileage reimbursement for personal use of vehicle is included.

Job Salary: 
$10.00 per hour
P/T, Non-Exempt, Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 1:00 pm (25 hours per week)
