Employment Specialist/Instructor Jobs for Veterans

The Employment Specialist/Instructor will be responsible for assisting veterans who are eligible for the program with soft skill techniques and instruction, as well as assisting them with job placement. Areas and counties served are Montgomery and surrounding areas.

Primary Responsibilities:
-To provide employment services and instruction to veterans.
-Providing employment readiness classes, life skills instruction, and other group activities using an approved curriculum. Instruction should actively involve and encourage client participation with the main objective of increasing skills needed to obtain and maintain employment.
-Provide assistance to clients who are working to improve their skills by providing activities including remedial education, training in specific job skills and referral to vocational rehabilitation services.
-Provide job counseling that helps employed clients respond appropriately to challenges of maintaining employment.
-Assist clients to develop individualized job advancement plans and to help clients achieve the objectives outlined in their plans.
-Document services provided in a timely, complete and accurate manner.
-Providing follow-up information regarding participants of the program.
-The Employment Specialist/Instructor works closely with the Jobs for Veterans Program Manager.
-Perform other duties as assigned by the Jobs for Veterans Program Manager, Chief Operating Officer, and/or Executive Director.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
-Excellent writing, communication, organizational and time management skills with knowledge of English grammar, spelling and punctuation.
-Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
-Exceptional interpersonal skills to relate with clients, participants and resource providers.
-Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
-Ability to maintain harmonious effective working relationships with other employees.

Qualifications:
-Bachelor’s degree in a social service field or Bachelor’s degree and relevant experience preferred.
-Valid Driver License and good driving record required.

Physical Requirements:
-Requires the physical mobility to sit and walk for moderate periods of time.
-Requires the physical ability to occasionally carry or lift objects weighing up to 20 pounds.
-Requires the ability to drive a motor vehicle.

Travel Requirements:
-Must be willing to use and have your own personal transportation. Minimal travel required to assist with job placement. Mileage reimbursement for personal use of vehicle is included.

Job Salary: 
$35,000
Hours: 
Full-time, Exempt, Monday - Friday 9:00 am – 5:00 pm
