Human Resources Representative--Birmingham, Alabama

This is a full-time position located in the Birmingham, Alabama area.

Position Summary:
The Human Resources Representative is responsible for assisting and maintaining day-to-day functions of the HR department. The Human Resources Representative works closely with the Director of Human Resources in order to accomplish the mission and the service goals of Aletheia House.

Primary Responsibilities:
-Responsible for maintaining company records, retrieves records as needed, and ensures systems are organized and filed accordingly.
-Compile records for potential new hires to ensure completeness and accuracy of pre-employment files.
-Conduct background checks, reference checks, and follow through on additional documentation to include educational confirmation, and application documents.
-Provide support, as needed, for other staffing-related activities to include advertising, recruiting, screening and/or interviewing.
-Monitor, report, and follow-up on complete and incomplete new hire documentation.
-Responsible for drafting newsletters, etc.
-Prepare and maintain reports, presentations and other documents and develop and maintain filing systems. Maintain file space and purge old files as directed.
-Support employee relations, company related functions, and other company services.
-Use scanners to convert forms, receipts, and reports into electronic format.
-Process and scan files to be entered into computer in digital database.
-Create file folders as needed. Input data as needed into MIP and other reporting systems. Fax pertinent documents, files, etc.
-Attend staff meetings and in-service training as required.
-Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Human Resources, Director of Behavioral Health, Chief Operating Officer and/or Executive Director.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
-Excellent writing, communication, organizational and time management skills with knowledge of English grammar, spelling, punctuation, and arithmetic.
-Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
-Exceptional interpersonal skills to relate with employees, participants and resource providers.
-Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
-Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
-High attention to detail and the ability to focus on various tasks and assignments.
-Organized and effective communication skills are essential.

Qualifications:
-Entry level 0-2 years of Human Resources experience. Bachelors degree in Human Resources preferred or Bachelors degree in a related field required.
-Ability to use a computer and understand database systems.

Physical Requirements:
-Requires the physical mobility to sit, stand, lift, stoop, bend, and walk for moderate periods of time.
-Requires the ability to drive a motor vehicle.

Travel:
-This position requires some travel in order to assist with HR related needs in the Jefferson County area.

Job Salary: 
$28,000 - $33,000 DOE
Hours: 
F/T, Exempt--Monday - Friday 8:30 am - 4:30 pm
