The Aletheia House is looking for a caring, energetic, qualified LPN to work in our Bessemer Neighborhood Health Center on a part-time basis.
The LPN provides routine nursing care and conducts quality assurance reviews on patient charts. The LPN works closely with the Health Center Clinical Director and the Health Center Director to accomplish the mission and service goals of Aletheia House.
-Provides clinical support to Nurse Practitioner by performing routine medical tasks (ie. gathering medical history information, vital signs, prepares patients for exams, and assists Physicians and Nurse Practitioner during exams).
-Collect and prepare lab specimens, perform clia waived laboratory tests and dispose of contaminated supplies.
-Provides patients with health education materials approved by the Bessemer Neighborhood Health Center.
-Review and provide quality assurance regarding health center charts. Ensure charts are clinically and administratively appropriate.
-Participate in the delivery and evaluation of patient care.
-Ensure the health, comfort, and safety of patients according to health-care facility guidelines.
-Rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
-Comply with all state requirements and facility policies and procedures.
-Ensure assigned staff complies with all state requirements and facility policies and procedures.
-Perform all other nursing duties as needed.
-Perform other duties as assigned by the Clinical Director, Health Center Director, Chief Operating Officer and/or Executive Director.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
-Current Basic Life Support Certification required.
-Knowledge of Electronic Medical Records systems, PC applications, and software.
-Individuals should be able to obtain and complete medical and social history, chart, take blood pressures, venipuncture, perform EKG-general medical/clinical office skills.
-Must adhere to HIPPA and OSHA regulations and guidelines.
-All work performed must be in accordance to Bessemer Neighborhood Health Center and Aletheia House policies and procedures.
-Excellent writing, communication, organizational and time management skills with knowledge of English grammar, spelling and punctuation.
-Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
-Exceptional interpersonal skills to relate with clients, participants and resource providers.
-Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
-Ability to maintain harmonious effective working relationships with other employees.
-Nursing degree from an accredited Nursing program
-Current, valid and unrestricted LPN license by the State of Alabama, required.
-Minimum 1 year of experience as an LPN, preferred.
-Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
-Ability to stay focused, professional and calm under pressure
-Valid CPR certification and current TB skin test
-Requires the physical mobility to sit, stand, bend, and walk for moderate periods of time.
-Requires the physical ability to occasionally carry or lift objects weighing up to 20 pounds.
