Aletheia House has several openings in our residential facilities. We are looking for individuals in recovery who want to make a difference in the lives of those who are in treatment for substance use disorders. All available positions are part-time positions in Birmingham. The county serviced will be Jefferson County.

Location of Positions: Patton/Avondale Supportive Housing, Men’s Residential, and Women’s Residential (St. Anne’s).

Office Location: Birmingham, AL

Position Summary:
The Peer Residential Support Specialist provides peer support and supervision, and recovery coaching, to clients in residential programs. She or he works closely with the Treatment Services Manager to accomplish the mission and service goals of Aletheia House.

Primary Responsibilities:
-Provide peer mentoring and/or coaching to clients enrolled in residential treatment.
- Provide recovery resource connecting.
-Facilitate and lead recovery groups as needed.
-Provide appropriate supervision of residential clients, including supervision of work assignments, meal preparation, and recreational activities;
-Conduct room inspections for compliance checks.
-Enforce program rules in a fair and constant manner;
-Properly document activities on clients and maintain other records as directed;
-Document and assist clients with medications to ensure proper usage.
-Transport program participants to NA/AA meetings, store runs, and other recreational activities.
-Perform other duties as assigned by the Treatment Services Manager, Director of Behavioral Health, Clinical Director, Chief Operating Officer, and/or Executive Director.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
-Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
-Personable and ability to work with internal and external customers.
-Ability to maintain harmonious effective working relationships with other employees.
-Effective communication skills.
-Organizational skills.

Qualifications:
-At least three years of substance use recovery.
-Valid driver’s license and a good driving record required.
-Certification as a peer recovery support specialist is a plus.

Education:
High School Diploma or GED

Certification:
Employees who have excellent performance in this position for at least nine months may be eligible to become certified as Peer Recovery Support Specialists.

Job Salary: 
$11.00 - $13.00 Hourly
