Aletheia House is currently looking for individuals for our Summer Camp Prevention Programs. We are in need of Prevention Assistants and Prevention Specialists.

Aletheia House is looking for Prevention Specialists and Prevention Assistants for our Summer Camp Prevention Programs located in the following counties: Jefferson, Blount, St. Clair, Pike, Bullock, Macon, Coosa, Clay, Randolph, Talladega, Choctaw, Greene, Hale, Marengo, and Sumter County.

Position Overview:

Prevention Assistant--Responsible for assisting with trainings, presentations, and activities to community residents and stakeholders. This position requires a Bachelors Degree or you must be currently pursuing a Bachelors Degree.

Prevention Specialist--Responsible for providing meaningful age appropriate activities to youth that teaches positive ways to care about their country, community, family, and themselves. This position requires a Bachelors Degree, preferably in the Social Science field.

This is a temporary position starting in May 2017 - August 2017 (4-8 weeks). The hours are day shift hours ranging from 7:30 am - 5:00 pm; however, each camp site hours differ from county to county. You will receive 30-40 hours per week at $10.00 - $11.00 per hour depending upon position.

Prevention Specialist Job Duties

Primary Responsibilities:
-Provide instruction and structured activities to youth ages 6-13.
-To provide education from an approved curriculum to participants in the Summer Camp program.
-Creating activities that focus on music, art, fun outdoor games that promote physical health and activity.
-Teaching campers how to make healthy nutritional choices by teaching them how to prepare healthy snacks.
-To conduct camp activities according to the direction of the Environmental Prevention Manager and/or Clinical Director.
-Participating in leadership training activities in addition to the summer camp program.
-Document services provided in a complete, accurate and timely manner.
-Report all unusual incidents that may involve participants to the Clinical Director.
-To attend staff meetings and trainings as required.
-Perform other duties as instructed by the Community Wellness Coordinator, Director of Behavioral Health, Chief Operating Officer, and/or Executive Director.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
-Excellent writing, communication, organizational, and time management skills with knowledge of English grammar, spelling and punctuation.
-Exceptional interpersonal skills to relate with program participants and guardians.
-Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
-Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
-Ability to maintain harmonious effective working relationships with other employees.

Qualifications:
-Bachelors Degree in social science field, social services, psychology, education, or other related field. Teaching experience preferred.
-Previous experience working with children of all ages.
-Ability to provide services in a compassionate, ethical manner.
-Ability to keep sensitive information obtained confidential.
-Valid driver’s license and a good driving record required.

Physical Requirements:
-Requires the physical mobility to sit, stand, bend, and walk for moderate periods of time.
-Requires the physical ability to drive a 15 passenger van.

Travel Requirements:
-Must have your own transportation and be willing to use your own personal transportation to travel to various counties. Mileage reimbursement for personal use of vehicle is included.

Prevention Assistant Job Duties

-To attend staff meetings and trainings as required.
-Perform other duties as instructed by the Community Wellness Coordinator, Director of Behavioral Health, Chief Operating Officer, and/or Executive Director.

-Minimum Bachelor’s degree in human services, social service field or Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred. Currently pursuing Bachelors degree required.
-Ability to provide services in a compassionate, ethical manner.
-Valid Alabama drivers’ license and good driving record required.
-Ability to keep sensitive information obtained confidential.

Physical Requirements:
-Requires the physical mobility to sit, stand, bend, and walk for moderate periods of time.
-Requires the ability to drive a motor vehicle.

Travel Requirements:
-Must have your own transportation and be willing to use your own personal transportation to travel to various counties. Mileage reimbursement for personal use of vehicle is included.

-Jefferson Co. M-F 7:30a-3:30p, or 8a-4p, or 9a-5p (6 weeks); Blount Co. M-F 8a-3p (4 weeks); St. Clair Co. M-F 7:30a-3:30p (4 weeks)

-Pike Co. M-F 8a-2p (4 weeks); Bullock Co. M-F 9:30a-2:30p (4 weeks); Macon Co. M-F 7:30a-2:30p (4 weeks)

-Marengo Co. M-F 8a-3p (5 weeks); Hale Co. M-F 8a-3p (4 weeks); Greene Co. M-F 8a-3p (4 weeks); Sumter Co. M-F 8a-3p (4 weeks); Choctaw Co. 8a-2p (4 weeks)

-Coosa Co. M-F 8a-3p (4 weeks); Clay Co. M-F 9a-3p (4 weeks); Randolph Co. M-F 8a-2p (4 weeks); Talladega Co. M-F 7:30a-3:30p, or 8a-4p, or 9a-5p (8 weeks)

Job Salary: 
Prevention Assistant--$10.00 per hour; Prevention Specialist--$11.00 per hour
Hours: 
Hours are typically Monday - Friday between the hours of 7:30am-5:00pm; however, the hours may vary from county to county
