Prevention Assistant, P/T Alabama Varying Counties

Aletheia House is looking for individuals to assist the Community Wellness Team with providing preventative services in targeted communities. Permanent Part-Time positions are available in Blount, Choctaw, Clay, Greene, Hale, Macon, Marengo, Pike, Randolph, St. Clair, and Sumter Counties.

Position Summary:
The Prevention Assistant is responsible for assisting with trainings, presentations, and activities to community residents and stakeholders. The Prevention Assistant works closely with the Community Wellness Team Leader and Community Wellness Coordinator to accomplish the mission and service goals of Aletheia House. Areas serviced are Blount, Choctaw, Clay, Greene, Hale, Macon, Marengo, Pike, Randolph, St. Clair, and Sumter Counties.

Office Location:
St. Clair and Blount counties: 2772 Hannover Circle, Birmingham, AL
Macon and Pike counties: 1620 Carter Hill Road, Montgomery, AL
Choctaw, Greene, Hale, Sumter, and Marengo Counties: 102 E. Washington Street, Demopolis, AL
Clay and Randolph Counties: 1211 N. Main Avenue, Sylacauga, AL

Primary Responsibilities:
-Assist with trainings for Peer Leaders.
-Assist with providing trainings for community residents and summer prevention camp participants.
-Facilitate presentations to community residents and other stakeholders.
-Assist with camp activities and alternative programs designed to serve low-income youth.
-Assist with providing education from an approved curriculum to participants.
-Document services provided in a complete, accurate and timely manner.
-Attend staff meetings and in-service trainings as directed.
-Report all unusual incidents that may involve participants to the Community Wellness Coordinator and/or Community Wellness Team Leader.
-Clean areas used by summer camp participants daily.
-Ability to work independently and within collaborative groups.
-To attend staff meetings and trainings as required.
-Perform other duties as assigned by the Community Wellness Coordinator, Clinical Director, Chief Operating Officer and/or Executive Director.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
-Excellent writing, communication, organizational and time management skills with knowledge of English grammar, spelling and punctuation.
-Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
-Exceptional interpersonal skills to relate with program participants and resource providers.
-Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
-Ability to maintain harmonious effective working relationships with other employees

Qualifications:
-Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program
-Ability to provide services in a compassionate, ethical manner
-Valid Alabama drivers’ license and good driving record required
-Ability to keep sensitive information obtained confidential.

Education Requirements:
-Bachelor’s Degree or working in pursuit of a Bachelor’s Degree.

Travel:
-Some local travel required
-Must be willing to use and have your own personal transportation. Mileage reimbursement for personal use of vehicle is included.

Job Salary: 
$10.00 / Hour
Hours: 
P/T, Non-Exempt, 25 hours, Monday – Friday and some weekends. Work hours vary (not to exceed 25 hours per week).
