Prevention Specialist, P/T, Shelby County, Alabama

Aletheia House is looking for individuals to provide substance abuse prevention to program participants enrolled in Substance Abuse Treatment. Permanent Part-Time positions are available in Shelby County.

Position Summary:
The Prevention Specialist provides substance abuse prevention services by continuing to engage in environmental and educational strategies. The Prevention Specialist will also address availability and accessibility of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs in the targeted community. The Prevention Specialist works closely with the Program Manager and Director of Behavioral Health to accomplish the mission and service goals of Aletheia House.

Primary Responsibilities:
-Implement Substance Abuse Prevention Interventions in Shelby County.
-Document all services in a timely complete and clinically appropriate manner.
-Attend staff meetings and in-service trainings as directed.
-Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Manager, Director of Behavioral Health, Chief Operating Officer and/or Executive Director.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
-Excellent writing, communication, organizational and time management skills with knowledge of English grammar, spelling and punctuation.
-Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
-Exceptional interpersonal skills to relate with program participants and resource providers.
-Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
-Ability to maintain harmonious effective working relationships with other employees

-Bachelor’s degree in Social Service or education required.
-Prior experience in substance abuse treatment/prevention a plus.
Physical Requirements:
-Requires the physical mobility to lift, sit, stand, bend and walk for moderate periods of time.
-Requires the ability to drive a motor vehicle.

-Some local travel required (Daily).
-Must be willing to use and have your own personal transportation. Mileage reimbursement for personal use of vehicle is included.

Job Salary: 
P/T, Non-Exempt, Monday – Friday, 9:00 am – 1:00 pm (may require some evenings) - 20 Hours week
