Aletheia House is looking for an individual who wants to make a difference in the lives of individuals recovering from substance abuse in the Jefferson County area. This position is located at the Bessemer Neighborhood Health Center, Bessemer, Alabama.

Position Summary:
The Substance Abuse Therapist is responsible for providing substance abuse counseling to patients of the Bessemer Neighborhood Health Center. The Substance Abuse Therapist works closely with the Health Center Director, Director of Behavioral Health, and the Physician to accomplish the mission and service goals of Aletheia House.

Primary Responsibilities:
-Coordinates the behavioral health treatment for all patients engaged in Medication Assisted Treatment and assures that all Medication Assisted Treatment patients are actively engaged in counseling.
-Provides individual and group therapy to patients of Bessemer Neighborhood Health Center
-Completes clinical documentation of all services provided in a timely and accurate manner.
-Assures that all services are documented in the Health Center’s Electronic Health Record.
-Provides appropriate resolution for patient issues and concerns.
-Provides timely, complete and accurate documentation as required by DMH, Medicaid, Aletheia House and other funding sources and regulatory agencies.
-Serve as a liaison between patients and other service providers as applicable.
-Attend staff meetings and in-service trainings as directed.
-Perform other duties as assigned by the Health Center Director, Director of Behavioral Health, Chief Operating Officer and/or Executive Director.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
-Excellent writing, communication, organizational and time management skills with knowledge of English grammar, spelling and punctuation.
-Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel). Experience with electronic health records is a plus.
-Exceptional interpersonal skills to relate with clients, participants and resource providers.
-Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
-Ability to maintain harmonious effective working relationships with other employees.

-Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in counseling, psychology, social work, or behavioral health field with a clinical practicum, required.
-Licensure as a Counselor, Clinical Social Worker or Certification is preferred.
-At least two years experience providing substance abuse treatment and/or prevention services preferred.
-Medicaid knowledge required.
-Licensure and/certification as required by the Alabama Department of Mental Health, or the ability to achieve licensure/certification within two years.

Job Salary: 
$38,000 - $48,000 (Depending on experience and licensure).
F/T, Exempt, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday - 40 hours a week
