This position is full-time and located in Birmingham, Alabama. Aletheia House is pleased to announce that we will be providing treatment for individuals who have a substance use disorder and who are HIV positive or living with AIDS.

Position Summary:
The therapist will serve adult women and men with Medicaid who are assessed as needing treatment for a substance use disorder. The Therapist will work closely with the Director of Behavioral Health and the Program Manager for the UAB Partnership to accomplish the service goals of Aletheia House and UAB.

Treatment for program participants will be based on the individual need of the client and may include a referral to detox and/or residential care.

Primary Responsibilities:
-Provide individual therapy to program participants.
-Conduct psycho-social assessments as needed.
-Document all services in a timely complete and clinically appropriate manner.
-Ensure all clients receive the appropriate level of care.
-Serve as liaison between clients and other service providers, as applicable.
-Attend staff meetings and in-service trainings as directed.
-Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Manager, Clinical Director, Director of Behavioral Health, Chief Operating Officer and/or Executive Director.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
-Excellent writing, communication, organizational and time management skills with knowledge of English grammar, spelling and punctuation.
-Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
-Exceptional interpersonal skills to relate with clients, participants and resource providers.
-Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
-Ability to maintain harmonious effective working relationships with other employees.

-Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in counseling, behavioral health, social work, psychiatric nursing or a related field with:) a clinical practicum, or 2) certification as a substance abuse counselor, preferred.
-At least five years experience providing substance abuse treatment and/or prevention services preferred.
-Ability to be certified as a Medicaid provider.
-Licensure and/certification as required by the Alabama Department of Mental Health, or the ability to achieve licensure/certification within two years.

Physical Requirements:
-Requires the physical mobility to sit, stand, stoop, bend, and walk for moderate periods of time.

Job Salary: 
$38,000 - $42,000 DOE
F/T, Exempt--Monday - Friday 9 am - 5 pm
